| | confused | ] | I swear, my computer is the most random conglomeration of parts ever created. It's like I built it with a pair of dice in there. Sometimes things work crappily, sometimes it's awesome.
This time, it's my TV capture stuff (as usually is). I stopped using XawTV because of two reasons: One, there was a delay in the video sync which is a nightmare for games that require pretty good timing. Two, color bleeding like it's an old TV (which could be the age of the card, so that's not really something I can complain about). Three, interlacing. I know I'm not supposed to be a graphics whore, but when games look like crap when anything is in motion, I just can't stand it after a while.
So, I switched to Mplayer. It allowed me to use filters to correct the color and interlacing problems, but the delay remained. Eventually, I learned to deal with it, as the games I've been playing mostly lately are RPGs which beyond certain things, do not require much timing.
Anyway, trying to play Ikaruga with this video delay is next to impossible, since that game really requires some serious reflexes (as any shooter does). Anyway, ON A WHIM, after looking at a new card (which I still intend to buy), I start up XawTV. Now, another old problem, the fullscreen wonkyness problem is still there for that one, but I'll be damned, the delay is gone. It was like, 60fps glory. I played Ikaruga to test it and I managed to achieve a mild Zen and make it to the sub boss of level 3. I've NEVER gotten that far before.
The color bleeding wasn't even as bad as before...
Needless to say, I'm stumped, but I plan to play it for all I can and use XawTV to do it, even with the added frustration of having to manually center the video overlay every time I fullscreen it. |
